Warehouses are becoming higher, especially where land is expensive or scarce. Or if you are using all the surface area you have available for building.

But the requirements for maximum efficiency with automated order pickers are also high.

Criteria for use	- Palletisable goods - High turnover frequency - Large stock formation
Advantages	- FIFO possible - Low investment in racking per pallet space - Each pallet directly accessible - High capacity per m2 - High storage intensity - Narrow gangways
Disadvantages	- High investment for trucks or cranes
